Questioner: Raja Tariq Mahmood from UK
ANSWER:
The Archangel Jibrīl – upon whom be peace – lead the funeral prayer of the Prophet Ādam – upon whom be peace – together along with fellow Angels. And as for where he is buried, there are three well-known stances mentioned in books.
1 – The Prophet Ādam – upon whom be peace – was buried in Masjid al-Khayf but his exact place of burial was made hidden; just as it established from the following narration of the dear & respected ‘Abdullāh Ibn ‘Abbās [may Allāh Almighty be pleased with him],
[al-Muntazham li Ibn al-Jawzī, vol. 1, p. 228]
2 – The Prophet Ādam – upon whom be peace – was buried near Hindustān [Ancient India], in Sri Lanka.
3 – He was buried in the Holy & Sacred City of Makkah Mukarramah in Jabal [Mountain] Abī Qubays.
Just as it is stated in Subhah al-Marjān,
[Subhah al-Marjān fī Āthār Hindustān, p. 9]
