QUESTION:
What do the scholars and muftis of the mighty Shari’ah say regarding this matter, what is the meaning of عزَّوجَلََّّ ?
Questioner: Bilal from India
ANSWER:
بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب
These words are mentioned after Ism Jalālah [the Majestic Name of الله], they are two words, which are both fi’l mādī [past tense verb]; the meaning of عَزَّ is ‘He [الله] is Mighty and Dominant’, and the meaning of جَلَّ is ‘He is the Possessor of Complete Glory and Majesty’.
